In just under two weeks, the selected RELI participants will spend the week interacting with fellow participants and faculty in tight knit clusters exploring their why and reflecting on where they need to grow and develop.  They will get to learn from faculty who have thoughtfully crafted in depth presentations on budgeting, occupancy management, facilities, crisis management, supervision, social justice, life after living on, assessment, and professional development; all things young professionals need to know to excel in the Housing Field.  They will have opportunities to interact with all the faculty and co-chairs through speed mentoring, a faculty panel, and individual 1-1’s. Participants will also hear from seasoned professionals and higher administration at NC State.  Outside of the classroom participants will get to bond with their cluster and classmates while they explore NC State’s beautiful campus and downtown Raleigh.

Faculty Goals 

• Facilitate participants' competency development through presentations that include opportunities for interactive learning. This is achieved through topic selection, curriculum building, and presentation guidelines. 
• Offer participants an opportunity to discuss and explore their career development with their mentor and cluster participants. 

RELI accomplished these goals by ensuring participants have multiple opportunities to interact and develop ongoing discussions with other participants, faculty; including during presentations, cluster meeting times, meals, and informal discussions throughout the week. 

Benefits

Serving as a faculty member for RELI affords experienced housing officers the opportunity to contribute to the future of the profession by working directly with younger professionals and providing support for their future plans within housing and residence life. 

Selection Criteria

The criteria for identified faculty includes: 

• Understanding of contemporary student issues, facilities, and administrative practices
• Presenting and facilitation experience
• Positive mentoring and role modeling characteristics
• Involvement in professional organizations
• Progressive responsibility and experience in housing or residence life (minimum eight years)

Selection of the faculty will attempt to ensure a diversity of experience and demographics, including: 

• Professional experience and background
• Institutional type (small/large, public/private, etc.)
• Location within the SEAHO region
• Demographics reflective of state and regional involvement

Interested individuals must submit the following information: 

• A brief statement as to why you would like to be considered and why you would be an effective mentor for new housing professionals (250 word limit)
• A brief statement discussing which of the eight content areas (can be more than one) you feel most comfortable discussing with participants and what experience you have in the respective area(s). Content areas include: crisis management, facilities, assessment, occupancy management, career/professional development, supervision, budgets, and social justice (250 word limit). 
• A resume, include current institution, completed educational degrees, work history, teaching experience, and involvement in professional organizations.

• December 16, 2022 Deadline to submit application 
• early February 2023 Applicants notified of selection status 
• February 28 - March 3, 2023 Faculty meeting at SEAHO (if attending)
• February, March, and April 2023 Faculty conference calls
• June 5, 2023 Faculty arrive at the University of Miami
• June 5 - 10, 2023 Participants arrive and RELI 2023 begins
• June 10, 2023 Faculty and participants depart
