Are you looking for additional opportunities for professional development?  We all would like those free, educational, and developmental opportunities to be more plentiful, so in conjunction with #SEAHOyearround, the Program Committee would like to announce our newly expanded initiative: Freeform Sessions!

What?: SEAHO Freeform Sessions

Wait!  What are Freeform Sessions?: Freeform sessions are intentional professional development opportunities offered by the Program Committee within SEAHO to meet the needs of the delegates throughout the year and at the annual conference.  Opportunities outside of the conference will mostly be in form of a conference call or webinar, but can also take shape via social media forums for open discussion.

When?: September 29th at 1:00pm CST/2:00pm EST

Where?: Dial-in Number (712) 832-8330 / Access Code: 788 2698

Topic?: Occupancy Management: Challenges and Solutions when accommodating students who don’t fit the standard application.

What Can I get out of this session:  Join two experienced Occupancy gurus to learn about coming up with creative solutions to serve students who need special room assignments  not covered by your traditional assignment process. Katrina Pawvluk, Associate Director, Residence Life at College of William and Mary  and Countess Hughes Assistant Director of Assignments at the University of Virginia  will share their experience serving these special needs and will answer questions from phone call participants.

When?: November 2, 2016 4 p.m. EST/3 p.m. CST
Where?: Dial-in Number (712) 832-8330 / Access Code: 788 2698
Topic?: Supporting Staff in times of Crisis
What Can I get out of this session:  Join peers from across the region to share about how you or your department supports staff during crisis on your campus.  Many of our SEAHO institutions have faced natural disasters and other student crises this year and we hope to provide the opportunity for sharing about what has worked to support colleagues on our campus.

The program committee will facilitate the conversation with questions about what your institution has done during and after these challenging times. Please also come with any questions you have for your colleagues around the regions on this topic.

When?: December 6th at 3:00pm CST/4:00pm EST Postponed Until January 2017
Where?: Dial-in Number (712) 832-8330 / Access Code: 788 2698
Topic?: P3’s: Demystifying what this means for our students
What Can I get out of this session:  Join SEAHO for a conversation about what working in a P3 looks like.  We will have staff from various types of P3 set ups that will share their experience and answer questions from the participants. While every P3 will look different based on your campus environment participants will get to hear more about this growing trend in our profession.
