Welcome to "SEAHO Grads Say..."

Posted By Samantha Hoover, Tuesday, October 16, 2012

Hello! If you've found yourself reading this, you are most likely a SEAHO member and interested in Graduate Involvement.  And for that (or even if you're not) we welcome you to our inaugural blog post! But before I get ahead of myself, I should let you know who I am.

My name is Samantha Hoover (but most people call me Sammi,)  and I'm a Resident Director at Coastal Carolina University located in sunny Conway, South Carolina, just miles from Myrtle Beach. I'm in my second year with University Housing at Coastal and my time in housing so far has definitely been a journey! Before CCU, I completed my bachelor's degree and master's degree from Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, Virginia. I have a passion for the graduate school experience, career development and social media and that is why I'm so excited to introduce this blog to all of my colleagues in SEAHO.

This blog will highlight the experiences of a first year graduate student, a second year graduate student and a new professional. I'll be posting from the perspective of a new professional and in the coming weeks, you'll be introduced to our fabulous grad student bloggers. We'll discuss our experiences on common topics such as taking comprehensive exams, our assistantships, classes, job searching, conferences, and navigating the professional world just to name a few! As we go through the journey of blogging our experiences, we'd love to hear from readers about your experiences or any topic you'd like for us to write about. We'll also have some very special guest blog posts from CHO's and VPSA's about their graduate experience in the coming months.

I hope you'll check back at SEAHO Grads Say... to share in similar experiences, read some entertaining blog posts, and dialogue with us on some of the most exciting times in the life of a housing professional. Until then, look for updates from the blog on Twitter or Facebook!
